Heated slowly to ever-increasing temperatures, Sumatra Mandheling Dark ascends the roasting spectrum to achieve an altered state where maltiness is transformed to caramel, and its rich aroma becomes even more intense. Harvested by the Mandheling people who traditionally farm and process these beans, the coffee is semi-washed, the allowed to dry with the cherry's pulpy mucilage still in place. The process results in a characteristic fruitier taste with stronger, heavier body.
