Elkonin boxes, also called sound boxes, allow students to segment words into individual sounds, or phonemes. These durable, double-sided answer boards provide a multisensory, tactile approach to literacy that prepares students to become confident readers by building phonemic awareness, phonics, and early literacy skills. Using colorful foam magnets, children will identify, find, and manipulate sounds, stretch out words into their sounds, and practice decoding. Pink heart magnets are provided for sounds in words that include unknown spelling patterns.
